Classicrendezvous -- A sharing of vintage lightweight bicycle information and lore

About Classicrendezvous
English (USA)

In this Classic Rendezvous mailing list, enthusiasts celebrate the hand made craft objects that are vintage lightweight bicycles.

Like minded enthusiasts see the demise of the hand crafted bicycle as an unfortunate turn of events.. Indeed our society is rapidly discovering faster and more robotic means of manufacturing everything we use in our lives. The bicycle, since it's invention, has represented a wonderful blending of function and art.

The Classic Rendezvous list focuses on bicycles made from the early days of the Twentieth Century, up to 1983. (there are good reasons for this cut off date, search the archives for that.) The Classic Rendezvous also embraces "on topic" fine bicycle makers who are called "Keepers of the Flame", those who use traditional methods and aesthetics. New age welded, injection molded, or glued modern bicycles belong in some other mail list, not this one! Ditto for mountain bikes & balloon tired bikes. Those items have merit, but they just do not belong here.

Bring your news, notes and queries about that old Raleigh, Masi, Hetchins, Peugeot, Schwinn Paramount, Singer, Crescent, Cinelli, Follis, Masi, Flying Scot, Rotrax, McLean, or whatever you have, so long as it fits in the time line.

IMPORTANT! This forum should be viewed as ""a group of friends having been invited into the list owner's garage to talk about vintage lightweight bikes" and invitees thusly behave like guests.

BEFORE PARTICIPATING, be certain to read the CR rules carefully! They will be included in your Welcome Message when you join and are also here: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/CR_list_rules.htm.

The CR list rules are a bit more stringent than others you may be used to, so please read and follow them to avoid a violation and subsequent loss of membership.

Thanks and enjoy the Classic Rendezvous!
